12 June 2007
The FPA event was supporting the DTM touring car series - with three FPA races, each of 30 laps, on the 1.2-mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit and with Tim started second for Round 9, took the lead at the start but grip problems saw him fall back to fourth. He made up for it by dominating Round 10, winning easily from pole position. He started second for Round 11, and again took an early lead, but was overtaken by Jack Clarke and had to settle for second.
Tim has now finished the last nine races in the top four, a longer run than any other driver in the field at any other point during the year. Having been two points behind Luciano Bacheta, Tim now leads the championship by 21 points and 11 of 20 rounds have now been completed - the next two races are at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on 15 July.
"It was a pretty straightforward win, but it is a very significant win for me with Luciano down in 10th" said the Laser Skoda-backed driver. "I know I wanted to take three wins from the weekend, but I came here two points behind and I'm leaving 21 ahead so I can't really complain. It's been a really important weekend now, and I'm happy not only that I've begun to consistently outperform my title rivals, but also that I've put myself in the driving seat as we enter the second half of the season."
