Bridgman comes home with gold

24 September 2007
Dunmow 24/09/07. Despite treacherous qualifying conditions, the sun still shone for Tim Bridgman last weekend in North Yorkshire. The season finale of the Visma Formula Palmer Audi series took place on September 22/23 at Croft circuit where Tim deservedly took the 2007 Championship title.
Though only needing to gain three points in the overall standings throughout the weekend to seal overall victory, with a combination of terrible weather conditions and a minor spin of his Skoda/Laser backed car in the qualifying session, Tim still managed to ace in true style and claim the title - an impressive 28 points clear of the second place standing.
"The weekend was disrupted by a big moment in qualifying" Tim explained. "I spun avoiding another car and had to race the rest of the weekend with flat spots on my tyres, which made my life very difficult. Unfortunately its part and parcel of only having one set of tyres per weekend - you have to be careful...bit lucky also!"
Having signed to drive only on the eve of the season after a year competing Stateside in 2006, 22 year old Tim showed he was a strong contender from the start, successfully adding 6 more wins and 15 further podiums to the two championships already under his belt.
An ecstatic Tim explained "It was great to win a title again. It has been a good year with tough competition". Having claimed victory 6 times during the first half of the season, Tim showed his skill and experience by just aiming to simply accumulate points during the second half of the year. "I was concentrating on the championship, any further wins were just a bonus" he claimed.
With the 2007 motor-racing season now at an end and the winter allowing only for testing, its never to early to think ahead to the next competition for this British young gun. "For next year I have a fair few avenues to look down and the signs are looking good. I will be making sure I will be in a competitive team so I can continue winning" a victorious Tim added.
The future of this talented young racing driver is clearly a bright one and a name to be recognised on the international motor-racing scene a lot more in the upcoming years.
Tim would like to pay special thanks to all his family and sponsors, including Peter Charlton of CF Capital and Roger Clark of CarCarc. Also to Jonathan Palmer and everyone at Formula Palmer Audi for their hardwork throughout the season.
