>>Bridgman commits to Carrera Cup GB | 22 January 2008
Multiple single-seater champion Tim Bridgman is the latest high-profile racer to commit to a full campaign in the 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup GB after signing to race with Team Parker Racing.

Bridgman has won three major single-seater titles in the last five seasons and is now planning to use the Carrera Cup GB as the ideal route into a career in sports and GT cars.

"I found myself at a bit of a career crossroads," said 22-year old Bridgman. "I would have needed to make a big jump to something like GP2 to carry on in single-seaters. But it wasn't just about budget. I was already looking at the Carrera Cup and I spoke to a lot of people and everyone said it would be good to have Carrera Cup success on my c.v. If I can do well, this should help open a lot of doors."

Team boss Stuart Parker is excited to have signed a title contender. "It's great to have a strong young driver. Tim's got a fantastic pedigree and should take us right back to the front of the pack," said Parker, who's team won the Carrera Cup GB crown in 2005 and 2006. "We can't wait to get our hands on the new car and get going." Bridgman will be part of a multi-driver team from Team Parker Racing and further signings will be announced shortly.

Bridgman jumped at the chance to race with Parker's team. "With their record, they were at the top of the list. I can see that they are hungry to win the championship back and I'm super-hungry to win the championship. It's not going to be easy, and I've got to be sensible over the early races, but winning the championship is the aim."

The Essex-based racer plans to use his Carrera Cup campaign as the start-off point for a career in sports and GT racing. "I looked at what drivers like Richard Westbrook, Damien Faulkner and Danny Watts have done on the back of Carrera Cup success and it is the best way of getting into sports and GT racing. There are much broader opportunities for me to make a career in sports cars."

Bridgman and Team Parker Racing will start their programme in the opening Carrera Cup GB races at Brands Hatch on 29/30 March.
