>> Bridgman posts points at Nurburgring double header | 03 September 2005
Two screaming starts at Saturday's British Formula 3 meeting at Nürburgring resulted in a fifth and ninth for driver Tim Bridgman (Dunmow, Essex). Bridgman converted P13 and P14 on the grid to a total of 10 championship points for the weekend.

Of race one Bridgman said, "I had a really good race, great start, got away cleanly, then gained two or three places off the grid and came out of the mix in the first corner picking up three or four places. I made another place on the outside of turn two and then managed to pull a gap." The Hitech driver settled behind the front runners where he remained for the rest of the race, holding his ground well against various challengers. "I brought it home in fifth, so I'm really happy, it was a good clean race and it's great to drive here at Nürburgring," he said.

The points back up his performance at the previous rounds at Silverstone, another GP circuit where Bridgman has had a top-ten finish

In second qualifying he ran as high as fourth before finishing in row seven of the grid. Bridgman improved on his P14 start in the second race, again overtaking through the first two turns and moving up into the points early on, before an eventual finish of ninth, well clear of the remainder of the field.

"Considering my starting position, a top-ten finish is something I am quite happy with," he said. "These two results are a great improvement on qualifying, which shaped up as a bit disappointing."

Overall it was an inspiring weekend for the 20-year-old. "It's a fantastic circuit - obviously it is a Grand Prix track - and it's been really enjoyable to drive here in Germany. Turning mid-field qualifying into Championship points has made it all the more enjoyable."

Bridgman is now focussing on his next two races at Mondello Park, in the Republic of Ireland on the 17-18 of September.
