British Formula 3 driver Tim Bridgman was injured in an accident at home yesterday. The driver received burns to his abdomen and right arm while attending to a fire in his yard. Bridgman, who is due to race at Mondello Park this weekend, will still fly out to the circuit and, contingent on his condition, will be looking to take part in the races.
The 20-year-old was airlifted to Chelmsford Hospital in Essex after the domestic mishap, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon. He was discharged after being treated for 20 per cent burns to his abdomen.
The Hitech Racing driver is keen to see the season through to completion and will evaluate his condition for each qualifying and race before determining if he is fit to participate. Bridgman said, "I plan to take it a step at a time. I am hoping I will be able to complete the full racing schedule, but obviously this will depend on how the injury is recovering. I will be disappointed if I am unable to give it my best effort this weekend." The recently in-form Bridgman will then be looking to return to full fitness for the final rounds at Silverstone in three weeks' time.
