>>Bridgman column on Crash.Net | 25 March 2006
25 March 2006: Fresh perspectives and pithy experiences can be expected from British racing driver Tim Bridgman’s new Champ Car Atlantic column with Crash.Net, the internet’s leading motorsport portal.

The title-winning driver from Dunmow, Essex, will be providing his take on the rejuvenated Championship, as he launches his US racing career in the premier feeder platform for the Champ Car World Series with Epson Team Jenson - making the move to the States having secured the Formula BMW Championship in 2004 and after a season competing in the British F3 International Series.

Bridgman heads into the Atlantic series at an exciting time, with the introduction of the new Swift chassis for 2006 leading to a bumper entry of over 40 cars all fighting for the $2 million bonus on offer to the series champion to help to secure a ride in the Champ Car World Series for the 2007 season.

The 20-year-old will look to follow in the footsteps of fellow Briton Katherine Legge - herself a Crash.Net columnist - who secured three victories in the Atlantic Series last season on her way to third place in the championship standings, a performance good enough to earn her a full Champ Car drive with PKV Racing for the coming season.

With past champions including names such as Gilles Villeneuve, Michael Andretti and current Champ Car front-runner AJ Allmendinger, the Atlantic Championship is firmly estabished as one of the leading feeder series' on the American racing scene - something Bridgman made note of in his first column for the Crash.Net site.

“Motor racing is massive in the States, even at the feeder level you can really feel its popularity," he said. "It’s going to be a huge year for the championship and for the Champ Car World Series as well.”

Crash.Net director Bryn Williams agrees that Atlantic and Champ Car fans are in for an exciting season, with the Bridgman column giving fans an real insight into the year ahead.

“There is a definite resurgence in the US racing scene," he said. "As one of the only British drivers confirmed for the series, Tim’s in a great position to talk about the new Champ Car Atlantic series to our audience – he’s an experienced outsider, delving into one of the most exciting development series in the world. He’s a great communicator who has done a lot in single-seater racing and his column will complement Katherine Legge’s Champ Car analysis very nicely.”
