>> Bridgman prepares to farewell F3 season on a high | 3 October 2005
Tim Bridgman (Dunmow, Essex), fresh from a robust performance as Team Autosport’s guest driver in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, is primed to return to the British Formula 3 International series for the last two races of the season at the Silverstone International circuit this weekend (8-9 October).

“I’m really looking forward to Silverstone, I feel I’ve turned a corner for the last part of the season and I’d like to maintain that by finishing the final F3 races on a relative high,” says the 20-year-old. Bridgman, who tested convincingly at the International course pre-season, says he feeling confident about the 2.2 mile Northamptonshire circuit. “I think we can do quite well. We were quick there pre-season, so there’s no reason we can’t do a decent job and hopefully come away with a couple of good finishes and some respectable results.”

The Hitech driver scored solid championship points at the Silverstone GP circuit in mid-August with some committed overtaking, a scarce thing amongst the F3 competitors at the speedy circuit that weekend. He says the International circuit takes the best aspects of its GP extension while leaving out the fast corners that, due to the aerodynamic of Formula 3 car, make it harder to close from behind at high speeds, which impedes overtaking through the curves.

As such it is a track which he believes is better suited to the Formula 3 cars. “It is not quite as quick as the full GP route but the International version is still very much its own circuit. It keeps its technical parts – the last complex is quite slow – but it is a track that is more conducive to overtaking as it allows you to attack, so from that point of view it should be a good set of races to finish off the season,” says the 2004 Formula BMW Champion.

Injuries that prevented his participation in the previous F3 rounds at Ireland’s Mondello Park have recovered and Bridgman says he was back to complete race fitness for the Porsche drive at Brands Hatch. “The Porsche race this past weekend was a good chance to get in full race weekend and test if the wound had healed up correctly. And it has, it’s fine, so we’re ready to get back into F3 for a good pair of races. I’m going to go out there and give it my all and leave the 2005 Formula 3 competition with a smile.”

Qualifying for the British Formula 3 is at 11:10 and 14:20 on Saturday 8 October, with the corresponding races at 11:15 and 15:30 on Sunday 9th October.
