>>Bridgman Autosport's Guest Driver in Carrera Cup GB | 23 September 2005

Dunmow, Essex (23 September 2005) - Two-time single-seater champion and current British F3 driver Tim Bridgman has confirmed he will be the guest driver in the final rounds of the Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch on 1/2 October. Bridgman, a finalist in the McLaren/Autosport/BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award in 2004, says he is thrilled to be asked to drive the Porsche Cars with Team Autosport car.

"It's great to be offered the drive in the Carrera Cup; I'm looking forward to it from many angles," said the 20-year-old. "It's always a bonus to have the opportunity to race a different car - as a driver it's beneficial to try your hand at other classes of racing. It's going to be something quite exciting because it's unlike anything I've driven before."

Although Bridgman was approached some time ago for the Autosport-supported guest drive, the Brands Hatch weekend now has an additional ring of consolation after he was forced to miss the previous F3 rounds due to burns incurred in a domestic accident. Bridgman says he is anticipating getting back behind the wheel: "It's good to be fully on the mend and ready to race again."

For Bridgman, a single-seater specialist, it will be his first time competing in a sportscar. He is looking forward to the challenge of racing in the Porsche 911GT3 Cup car. "I'm sure it's going to be a fun car to race," he said. "I'm hoping to do so with some success."

Bridgman said he would be looking to enjoy the relatively pressure-free drive on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit and the atmosphere of the final weekend where many of the BTCC-supporting titles will be determined. "It's exciting to be part of the final weekend of the TOCA season - it will be good to catch up with people and there should be a strong turn out to witness how things draw to a close for the year."

Bridgman expressed his gratitude to Porsche Cars GB and Autosport magazine as well as his sponsors for making the drive possible.
