>>Bridgman to Challenge for Champ Car Atlantic Championship with Jensen Motorsport | 13 January 2006
Tim Bridgman has joined forces with Jensen MotorSport to contest the Champ Car Atlantic title in 2006.

The talented driver tested with the team late last year in Atlanta and is excited about his impending move to North America to compete in the single seater development series, which is the major feeder for Champ Car, the premier single-seater formula in North America.

Bridgman said, "It is not only another step up in a fantastic series, but it is something completely different, and every circuit is going to be new to me. It's a good challenge and I'm looking to put everything I have learnt into pratice - I want to make it count."

The dual title holder said he was happy to be racing with the Jensen MotorSport team.

"The good team environment is a real strong point. I hit it off with the team from the beginning, we've got the same mind-set and there is a very positive vibe, with a strong desire to do well, and I am keen to start working towards being competitive from the first race in Long Beach."

Bridgman's manager Mark Blundell said, "Having raced myself in America in Champ Car for five years I know there is a great deal of opportunity for Tim pursing this direction, and joining up with Jenson MotorSport is a great starting point to further his single seater career." The three-time Indy Car winner added, "I am sure he is going to be a major contender for the Champ Car Atlantic Championship."

Team principal Eric Jensen said, "Jensen MotorSport is very excited to have a driver with the talent and character of Tim Bridgman join our team in 2006." The owner of the Jensen MotorSport team, which has an extensive heritage in ChampCar, in particular in the Atlantic series, added that the synergy was right for the desired results. "Tim is a proven winner, including two championships in the past three years. By immersing Tim in a team of talented and experienced engineers and technicians, the prospect for continued success is quite good."

The 12-round series starts in April at Long Beach.

Bridgman will be appearing at the Autosport International show at the NEC in England at 12.30pm on Thursday, 12 January to announce his plans for the year.
